Ecos Fund Limited

Introduction

Building homes that make no net contribution to climate change is the challenge that national and regional governments have highlighted in 2006 and 2007. Ecos Fund has been formed to enable small investors to support the building of sustainable and zero carbon housing at a series of new building projects across the South West of England. These projects will all be undertaken by Ecos Homes Limited (Ecos Homes) a company set up to build sustainable mixed developments.

Ecos Homes (formerly South West Eco-Homes) was set up in 2002 to build and sell exemplar sustainable developments. It completed its first project in 2006 - the building of 12 dwellings in Langport, Somerset. This was financed by loans from 21 individuals totalling £875,000 and a bank borrowing facility of £1,800,000. The individuals who loaned money to Ecos Homes Limited agreed to do so in return for 7% annual interest for the duration of their loan. Interest was compounded and paid at the end of the project in December 2006 when all the loans were repaid or re-invested.
