Ecos Trust

Ecos Trust (a registered Charity) was established in 2000 and formerly known as the Somerset Trust for Sustainable Development. The Trust is based in the South West and promotes sustainable design and building techniques. It believes that sustainable design and construction is better for the environment, human health and social welfare.

The Charity is no longer directly funded for its work but raises income through the events it runs and the consultancy it offers to both professionals and members of the public.

Informing and educating

We regularly run seminars, workshops and exhibitions for both members of the public and the building industry to raise awareness and understanding of sustainable development. Our Annual Homes for Good Exhibition is a source of ideas and inspiration for everyone interested in sustainable building and a sustainable lifestyle. The exhibition showcases products, materials and methods, along with expert advice and product demonstrations.  Click here for event information

We have produced an in-depth case study of our first eco-development at Great Bow Yard. Click here for books.

Advising and consulting

We provide impartial advice and guidance to home owners, self builders and those working in the building industry, including developers, builders, planners and architects. Our Green Building Consultancy offers this expert advice at an affordable price.

Encouraging sustainable living

In the past we have been funded to work with individuals and community groups wishing to reduce their environmental footprint. Due to the loss of direct funding we now have to charge for this support to cover our costs. For more information please contact a member of the Ecos Trust on 01458 259400.
